"Shaken, Stirred & Punched" Mixology Class: Tea, Anyone?

Sweet tea may not be much of a cultural thing in the northeast, but New Englanders have a long tradition of caring a lot about the taxation of said beverage. Regardless of your colonial-era politics, tea is the perfect beverage for late spring and early summer. It can be sipped hot to warm up a chilly morning, or gulped cold to cool down a hot afternoon. It can also be mixed with booze for brunches, barbecues, and bashes! Join Meredith at this month’s mixology class for a demonstration of three different tea-based tipples to toast the beginning of summer - shaken, stirred and punched. While we're at it, you'll learn foolproof techniques for your home bar and get hands-on to practice measuring, mixing, and mastering flavor with steal-the-recipe craft cocktails. Chris will serve up scrumptious snacks to soak up some of that booze.

Tickets are $65 and include heavy appetizers and two cocktails.

AB Community Education: Storytelling Workshop

Do you have a story to tell? Lots of people have jumped into the storytelling pond. Storytelling has swept the nation with fans tuning in to The Moth Radio Hour and This American Life on NPR and/or going to local story slams where true stories are told to a live audience. Storytelling brings people together by sharing a moment that may be profoundly personal, hilarious, or transformative. It builds confidence as well as writing and public speaking skills. It can be an effective tool for business owners, marketing and sales professionals. It may help high school students prepare for their college essays. Plus, it’s just fun! In this new 3-part class, participants will learn how to write and tell a 5- to 6-minute true story based on a pre-selected theme. At the final class, attendees will tell their stories and receive feedback. Fugitive Stories monthly showcase will take place immediately after this class in The Gallery at Villageworks. Class members receive free admission and one member may be selected to tell his or her story! Open to all ages 13 and up.

Rose Saia is a Moth winner, a WGBH & Massmouth storyteller and co-producer of Fugitive Stories in West Acton. Learn more about Fugitive Stories and Rose at www.fugitiveproductions.com/stories.
