The Boston Globe dubbed singer and songwriter, Laura Vecchione, “a bluesy songstress” and proudly proclaimed, “Vecchione is all ours.” Laura has recorded with multi-Grammy-award winning producers, opened for major label artists, and has had her songs featured on national radio and television.
Born in New York City, Laura’s classical and Broadway voice training began at age 15. In college, Laura found herself in the warm embrace of the Columbia/Barnard Gospel Choir while studying Jazz Voice at Manhattan School of Music. Laura moved to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music. Later, studying guitar with local maestros John Curtis (Patty Griffin, Jon Pousset-Dart Band) and Ksenia Mack (Porch Party Mamma’s) she began writing and performing original material.
Recently, Laura traveled from her home in Boston to record in Nashville, between teaching and playing. From Muscle Shoals to Motown, to poignant singer/songwriter ballads, each song reflects themes of resilience and hope, masterfully executed by Vecchione’s incredible vocals and supported by a host of Nashville’s A-list session players.
“Laura Vecchione hails from New York, lives in Boston, and recorded in Nashville. Keep this quick bio handy to remind yourself that she’s not from Chicago, because she sounds a whole lot more South Side than Soho, Allston, or Grand Ole Opry.” — Rob Weir, Valley Advocate
“Don’t mess with the Veck. . . . If you do, she’ll write a killer song about you and sing the *@#% out of it.” — Jim Scott (Grammy-winning producer/engineer: Wilco, Tom Petty, Dixie Chicks, Lucinda Williams).

“Fugitive at the Door” is a bi-weekly music series presented by Fugitive Productions and Orange Door Kitchen. Since the winter of 2015, Fugitive has been bringing great dance bands to The Gallery at Villageworks. Now, Fugitive is partnering with Villageworks’ newest venue, Orange Door Kitchen, to present “listening” music — one to a few performers playing jazz, folk, bluegrass, blues, classical, world music, possibly even a cappella. Whatever strikes our fancy — and yours.
“Fugitive at the Door” happens two Wednesdays a month. Orange Door Kitchen serves a few small plates and snacks each evening with a full bar. We think you will fall in love with the room and the amenities and hope that our Wednesday evening events offer a regular mid-week break for you.
Orange Door is a no cash, no tipping venue — all transactions are digital and gratuities are included in the menu price.
