Boston Comedy Night returns to West Acton Villageworks. The curator and host of our series is WES HAZARD — named one of “5 Boston Comedians to Watch” by Boston Globe Magazine and 2017 winner of a New England Emmy Award. Each night, he brings some of the best and brightest comics working the New England circuit. The resumés of the comics we’ve presented to date are impressive. They have appeared on Comedy Central, The TV Guide Channel, Comedy Bang! Bang! Live! Podcast, NPR’s Commonwealth Journal, Lifetime’s Girls Night Out, and several local television stations. They have performed in countless comedy festivals, both regional and further afield, have hosted many regional events, and have appeared in a number of feature films. We are so pleased to be bringing Wes and his gang back to the 'burbs for another season.
TONIGHT'S COMICS
Wes Hazard (our host)
A New England native, Wes Hazard was named as one of “5 Boston Comedians to Watch” by The Boston Globe Magazine. A writer and storyteller as well as comedian, Wes brings wit, energy, and honesty to the stage, qualities that have made him a regular performer in Boston venues as well as at The Boston Comedy Festival and The Women in Comedy Festival. Wes is a multiple-time winner on The Moth StorySLAM stage and he’s appeared as a guest on the “Comedy Bang! Bang! Live!” podcast — based on the critically acclaimed IFC television show with Scott Aukerman & Paul F. Tompkins. His debut book Questions For Terrible People was released in 2016 and named a Barnes & Noble humor pick. He also co-hosts WGBH/World Channel’s new TV series, “Stories from the Stage.”
Peter Martin
Peter is a comedian hailing from Somerville. His humor resonates with the same gritty taste and sensibilities of the Boston blue collar working class. From absurd silliness to intelligent satire, over the past seven years, Peter has become a well-known and established talent in the Boston comedy scene.
Kathe Farris
Kathe is a stay-at-home mom, stand-up comedian, and snack cake enthusiast. She shares her unsolicited wisdom about hot button topics from calcium supplements to the political awfulness behind book groups. Her unoriginal, understated demeanor both surprise and impress audiences all over New England. Some of her credits include the Boston Comedy Festival, Women in Comedy Festival and the Chicago Funny Festival. In August 2016 she was Comic in Residence at The Comedy Studio, a semi-finalist in the Boston Comedy Festival 2016 as well as 2017 and opened for Todd Barry. Off stage, she teaches Intro to Stand-up at ImprovBoston and comedy workshops for the Boston Comedy Chicks/Women In Comedy Festival organization.
Orlando Baxter
Orlando exploded onto the Boston comedy scene in 2005, and was quickly established as one of the areas hottest young comics. His fresh perspective and unique relatability soon made this former high school teacher a fan favorite and led to a string of finalist positions in a host of contests and festivals all over the world including NBC’s “Stand Up for Diversity,” Boston Comedy Festival, Montreux Comedy Festival, Johannesburg International Comedy Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Turku Comedy Festival, and the Melbourne Comedy Festival. Orlando currently tours across the country performing at clubs and colleges. And when he's not doing his own thing, you can catch him on the road opening for Whitney Cummings and Jo Koy. In 2016, Orlando made his late night TV debut on the Conan show on TBS. You can watch it here!
