Join painter Ray Paradiso and photographer Rob Houghton, both of Acton, at a public reception to open their joint show in The Gallery at Villageworks.

Rob Houghton, Photographer
www.RobHoughtonPhotography.com

Rob has been taking photographs for more than 40 years. In 2012, after a 33-year career as an educator and school administrator, Rob began exhibiting and selling photographs to the public. His work focuses primarily on images of nature and abstract compositions of natural and man-made objects. He renders and shares images that are examples of the beauty and mystery that surround us every day. Having trained on a large format view camera in the 1970’s when each photograph took 10 minutes or more to compose and shoot, he learned to slow down, look carefully, and pay attention. This photographic process allows him to observe and then photograph the complexity of nature and everyday objects and capture the subtleties of shape, color, shadows and light that might otherwise be overlooked.

Raymond Paradiso, Landscape Artist
www.RaymondParadiso.com

Raymond paints landscapes in oil and acrylic. He is largely self taught but has studied under some fine New England artists including Maris Platais and Margaret Gerding. His paintings feature trees, fields, and marshes, and seldom include any man-made features. His style ranges from representational to expressive. His subjects are primarily traditional New England and Cape Cod scenes, with some recent works from California. Raymond has participated in Acton Open Studios and has displayed his work in various locations around Boston Metrowest, including Nashoba Bakery in West Concord, Gallery Seven in Maynard, Middlesex Savings Bank, Acton Coffee House, and L’Aroma Café in West Newton.
